Hado Pilipinas Combines Technology, Gaming, Physical Sports
ABS-CBN announced Hado Pilipinas — a “techno sport” — on Thursday, August 15, in Quezon City.
Hado Pilipinas is the adaptation of Hado, a Japanese concept that merges the familiar game of dodgeball infused with exciting Augmented Reality (AR) technology.
Unlike Virtual Reality (VR), Hado isn’t restricted by cables and controllers, with players only needing wireless head mounted displays and wrist motion sensors, allowing players to run, duck and jump as any other physical sport.
Hado Pilipinas intends to start their first push to blur the line between video games and sports with a debut inter-school tournament between NCAA schools which will begin August 25.
The winner of the tournament will receive an all-expense paid trip to Japan and represent the country at the Hado World Cup against countries such as China, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, the United Kingdom and the United States for a shot at taking home a chunk of the ¥2,000,000 prize pool.
