Secret Eliminate Vici Gaming from The International 2019
The penultimate gameday of The International 2019 began with Team Secret facing off against Vici Gaming for a chance to take on Team Liquid in the next round.
Secret may have looked vulnerable against Mineski in inarguably one of the most entertaining series of the main event, but they picked themselves up and swept Infamous 2-0 in the next round to restore the commanding presence they exuded throughout the DPC season. Meanwhile, Vici Gaming were no match against their Chinese counterparts PSG.LGD who sent them to the Lower Bracket to fight for their tournament lives.
Team Secret took a page out of OG’s book and picked Io for Michal “Nisha” Jankowski in the first game. The wisp synergized extremely well with Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng’s Gyrocopter and gave Vici no time to collect their bearings. The Chinese team just couldn’t figure out a way to contain the core Io and tapped out after 23 minutes.
Vici didn’t want a repeat of the stomp that was the first game by first-phase banning the Io but the outcome was just the same. This time Secret drafted a position 1 Bristleback that spammed quill spray after quill spray in every teamfight to obliterate the VG lineup. Ironically enough, Zhou “Yang” Haiyang, otherwise known as “Dead Yang” in the recent VG skit was tied with Zeng “Ori” Jiaoyang for the most deaths in the match that saw Secret win with ease to eliminate Vici Gaming from the International 2019.
The Chinese side end their tournament run at 5th-6th place while Secret keep their TI hopes alive and move on to face Team Liquid.
