The Philippine eSports 2014 calendar is gearing towards its end, but not without a loud bang from the sixth season of the Mineski Pro Gaming League (MPGL) Southeast Asian (SEA) Grand Finals. For two days, 14 of the best teams in Southeast Asia will compete for the lion’s share of approximately P1.3 million ($29,444.65), which is by far the biggest prize pool in the history of Philippine eSports. The growth of the base prize pool of P1 million was made possible by the contributions of the community via Dota TV ticket sales, Mineski gear sales and donations. The prize distribution will be as follows:

1st Place: P794,475.55 ($17,666.79)
2nd Place: P331,031.37 ($7,361.16)
3rd Place: P198,619.00 ($4,416.70)

Spotted: the youngest MPGL VI SEA Grand Finals attendee

Untitled-2

Kids are not a rarity in eSports events here in the Philippines, but this is by far the youngest attendee we’ve ever seen in an eSports event — one-month-old baby boy Ur Domingo. Now it’s normal to assume that both his parents play Dota 2, right? Well, we had a little chat with them and found out that the gamer parent is actually the mom, Dorcas Domingo, who has been a Dota player for almost five years. Her husband, Kyle Domingo, on the other hand, is not a Dota player so Ur assumed that she would be attending the MPGL VI alone. He surprised her, however, by showing up at the Sky Dome, SM City North Edsa to watch the MPGL VI with her!

So which team are they rooting for? Ur believes Rave can take this. Will she be right?

After a flawless run in the group stages, Vietnamese team Nvdia Aces experienced its first loss at the hands of the Korea-based Filipino team Rave. The tide seemed to favor the Vietnamese team early on, but it was the very impressive and game-changing Chronospheres that paved the way to victory. Rave took team fight after team fight, which eventually forced out the GGs from Nvdia Aces. Now the question is can the Pinoys take game two or did the Vietnamese lose this battle to win the war?
