If you bought the Starladder XI ticket to support Evil Geniuses (EG), we have bad news for you. The North American Dota 2 powerhouse has withdrawn their participation from Starladder XI due to exhaustion. EG has been experiencing fatigue from traveling too much and playing in so many tournaments. Here’s an official statement from the organization:

Hey guys, unfortunately I have some bad news as Evil Geniuses Dota 2 will be withdrawing from Starladder Season 11. With 2014 coming to a close, we’ve been exhausted from travel as a team. In the last 6 months I think we’ve been sleeping in hotel beds longer than we have been in our own. And this, along with the fact that we haven’t played any games yet in the season, are the sole reasons we’re pulling out of Starladder. We will still play out the remaining tournaments that we’re in, including DotaPit and D2L and afterwards, we plan on spacing out our LAN commitments.

Exhaustion from too much traveling is experienced not only by EG, but by many other eSports teams as well. In a previous interview by Matthew “Cyborgmatt” Bailey, Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi mentioned “travel sickness” and how it could affect not only the performance, but also the health of many players.

The Starladder management has agreed to let EG withdraw from the tournament without any repercussion.

We fully understand the situation EG are having now. Successful performance has turned out to guys being exhausted by flights. They simply cannot perform as they are expected in such condition, they simply need to rest. We know from our own experience what long flights are, so there are absolutely no claims from our side. We will be glad to meet guys in 12th season – fresh, new and ready to win.

With EG stepping out of Starladder XI, the team will be replaced by team Wheel (DurpDurp, Sleisel, imasheepsux, Cak3z, ReLiC).
