BOOM keeps SEA dream alive, qualifies for TI11
Southeast Asian Dota 2 team BOOM Esports keep the dream alive for SEA as they become the ninth team to qualify for The International 11. Tickets to Singapore were immediately booked after the team’s nail-biting victory against Team Liquid in the lower bracket of the Arlington Major playoffs. The win secures the SEA team a top eight finish at the last Major of the season and gives them enough DPC points to qualify for TI 11 this coming October.
This will be the first TI appearance for BOOM Esports players Souliya “JaCkky” Koomphetsavong, Erin “Yopaj” Ferrer, Saeiful “Fbz” Ilham, and Rolen “Skem” Ong, while Timothy “Tims” Randrup will be on his fifth TI run. Tims had previously qualified for TI under the Filipino team TNC.Pro, with their first TI appearance being in 2016.
BOOM is the first SEA team to secure a direct invite for The International 11. Meanwhile, Fnatic are on their last hopes for qualifying with tonight’s series against Beastcoast being the deciding factor. Talon, on the other hand, will have to fight tooth-and-nail in the last chance qualifiers to qualify for TI.
