E-Palarong Pambansa (EPP) organizers revealed that their national multi-esports tournament circuit has officially ceased its operations and is instead now endorsing the Philippine National Esports League (PNEL).

“We, the E-Palarong Pambansa team, together with various esports organizations in the country, would like to officially endorse the [Philippine National Esports League] to continue organizing and implementing the esports initiative and agenda of the E-Palarong Pambansa,” read E-Palarong Pambansa’s recently published graphic announcement.

The announcement came after EPP initially hit the pause button just after the first week of action amidst multiple allegations and problems that plagued the tournament.

In the same announcement, ILO Esports Founder and EPP Project Head Jamar Montehermoso revealed that the National Youth Commission, who originally endorsed the tournament circuit, has withdrawn its support thus forcing EPP to be defunct.

In turn, EPP’s organizing team, along with the assistance of the eSports Academy of Asia Pacific, is now endorsing the Philippine National Esports League to “continue what we have started” under the brand of ‘The-Bagong Larong Pambasa’. The Philippine National Esports League is a nationwide LGU-based amateur esports organization and its current chairman is none other than former actor and incumbent congressman for Santa Rosa, Laguna’s Lone District Dan Fernandez.

“We are one with [PNEL] and its advocacies. We are for the advancement of esports as a distinct discipline of sports and esports as a source of holistic entertainment,” EPP’s announcement declared.
