Mineski Goes Full Filipino Roster Once Again
On Nov. 5, 2014, Siong Tait “Johnny” Lee and Chuan “Ah Fu” Tue joined Mineski in an effort to revamp its Dota 2 squad. In the two months that they were together with the team, they have won three Dota 2 championships as well as gotten into the top 4 on several occasions, most notably the ESL Philippine Grand Finals and the OK.-Dota 2 Cup.
Today, Mineski announced that they will go back to a full Filipino roster, replacing the Malaysians with Marc “Polo” Fausto and Aaron “Terong” Cuartero, two Filipino players who have made a name for themselves during their time in Click n’ Search. The gaming organization made the announcement on their Facebook page in response to concerns made earlier in the day about the organizers of the Dota 2 Asia Championship pointing out that the Filipino team has not submitted a roster yet.
The following statement by Johnny may shed light on why the two Malaysians left the team:
It is with a heavy heart to tell you guys that I am leaving team Gigabyte.Mineski.
The main reason for this sudden departure is [the] communication problem. I feel that the team can’t show its full potential without clear and proper communication and I don’t want to be the hindrance to their improvement as a team.
This decision was civil and internally talked about. In my whole experience with the team I have learned a lot of things. I know these things will help me grow both as a player and as a person as well.
I can also say that the Philippine fans are the best fans ever, no other country compares. I love you guys!
As for my teammates, I can say that these guys are very talented individuals and they have a bright future awaiting them. They will always be part of who I am as a player, [and] we will always be good friends. I wish them the best of luck in their future tournaments especially this upcoming Dota2 Asia Championship.
Maraming salamat po everyone!
— Siong Tait “Johnny” Lee
Here is the new roster of Mineski:
Ryan Jay “Bimbo“ Qui
Marc “Polo“ Fausto
Aaron “Terong/Yamaguchi“ Cuartero
Ralph Richard “RR“ Penaño
Joshua “Owa/5593“ Dela Serna
Currently, the roster is waiting for confirmation from MarsTV to play in the Asian qualifiers of the Dota 2 Asia Championships. If the lineup is approved, this will be their first tournament together.
