Team Redemption announced earlier today that they will be ineligible to participate in any Valved-hosted events, in a Facebook post by their team manager Dawei “Xero” Teng:

Our chances on another shot at The International was an enigma before, but we’ve finally received news from Valve themselves. It is with a heavy heart to inform that Team Redemption — or in this case, the players consisting of DDz, XiangZaii, MoZun, MtR and Lance will not be participating in any future events hosted by Valve. This message was received directly from Valve, which essentially means that we will not be participating in The International.

Upon hearing this news, I’ve had a chat with the players to discuss our future. Despite the initial shock and disappointment, they’ve steadied themselves and told me that they will continue playing, as their passion for the game cannot be measured. This reply humbled but assured me that the boys have matured, even by a small extent. Therefore, Team Redemption will continue fighting as before. Potential sponsors will of course be notified of our status, as we seek to be transparent in our dealings. Thank you once again for supporting us. #trfighting

Team Redemption  was formed after the wake of the 322 scandal, where members Fua Hsie “Lance” Wan, Kok Yi “ddz” Liong, Goh Choo “MoZuN” Jian, Kelvin “MtR” Chong and Chiok Soon “xiangzai” Siang under their previous team name Arrow Gaming were involved in a massive match-fixing outrage last October 2014.  Compared to the other scandals revealed during the time, collaboration between all members of Arrow, Arrow’s management (Jaren) and the girlfriends of DDZ and LancE were brought to light at the behest of their denial, sparking widespread anger at the team.

FEATURED STORIES

Valve’s aggressive campaign against match-fixing has been consistent in every platform, and rightfully so. Match-fixing is one thing, but lying, fabricating and attempting to cover up their mistakes is another entire issue in itself, and that fact made Team Redemption’s scandal even worse and more unforgivable.
