Rave Off to The Summit 3
After being invited to the International Southeast Asia Qualifiers, Incheon-based Filipino team Rave is now on their way to represent the country in the upcoming The Summit 3 tournament, to be held at the Beyond The Summit (BTS) house in Los Angeles.
The Summit 3 is a tournament hosted by BTS, a LA-based casting studio dedicated to broadcasting Dota 2 matches in English all over the world. The studio’s casting roster includes David “LD” Gorman as well as David “GoDz” Parker; LD is considered to be one of the most knowledgeable casters in the Western Dota 2 scene, while GoDz is generally known for his mastery of the Chinese and Southeast Asian Dota 2 regions.
As for the tournament itself, it has been actually inspired by Starcraft 2’s Homestory Cup where the fans can actually see the “other side” of their favorite players in a “behind-the-scenes” tournament where they can relax, show their “hidden” talents, eat unlimited stuff and spend time on a bathtub with champagne and a bubble bath!
The prize pool is currently at $267,539 (P11,938,400), with the champion getting $113,704 (P5,074,600) and the last placers taking $6,688 (P298,500). However, as stated above, the primary purpose of this tournament is not to pit teams against each other; rather, it is to allow the Dota 2 scene to spend time together in a relaxed environment in order to do the thing that they all love.
Rave is placed along with Vici Gaming, Cloud 9 and Evil Geniuses in what may Dota 2 enthusiasts dub as the “group of death” due to the very fact that all of these teams are considered to be the top-flight sides of their respective regions. Thus, the Filipino squad is expected to have a very hard time getting out of the group stage based on the potential strength of their opponents in their bracket.
