Valve Announces Schedule For TI5 Southeast Asia Qualifier

Valve, the creators of the popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) Dota 2, have finally lifted the curtain on the schedule for the the Southeast Asia Qualifiers of this year’s The International (TI) 5.

The TI 5 SEA Qualifiers will begin on Friday, May 29 along with the European Qualifiers.

Divided into two groups of five, only two teams from each group will go to the playoffs, which will be conducted in a double-elimination format. The first placer of each group will start in the upper bracket, while the second placer of each group will start in the lower bracket.

Each match in the group stage will be done in a best-of-two format, thus creating the possibility of draws as well as tiebreakers.

FEATURED STORIES

For the Filipino teams who are in the qualifier, the first match for Group A will feature TnC Gaming going up against 5eva, while Group B will see Rave going up against Invasion e-Sports.

The International is considered to be Dota 2’s premier event, with the total prize pool currently at $9,100,200 (P407,376,400) at the time of writing. The money pot is being increased by crowdfunding from Compendium sales and other proceeds.
