After 90 game series played, all three past The International (TI) champions find themselves in the bottom four of their respective groups at the end of TI5 group stage day three.

TI1 winner Ukrainian team Natus Vincere (Na’Vi) and TI2 champion Chinese squad Invictus Gaming (iG) are the bottom two of group A with three points apiece. While last year’s champion China-based team Newbee ranks second to the last of group B with four points.

All past three TI champions have not yet won any single series in TI5. Na’Vi and iG have one game series left to play at the fourth day of group stage (July 31, Philippine Standard Time). Newbee has two more game series to play.

SO FAR. Two Chinese teams top both groups at the end of TI5 group stage day three.

Chinese team LGD.Gaming and fan-favorite European team Team Secret top group A with 14 points apiece. While CDEC.Gaming (CDEC) tops group B with 12 points.

CDEC’s climb to the top of their group comes as a surprise as they came from the Wild Card stage. They even dismantled TI4 champion Newbee in their series 2-0.

The top four teams of each group will be seeded to the Upper Bracket of the double-elimination Main Event. While the bottom four will battle it out in the Lower Bracket. The Main Event will start on August 4 (Philippine Standard Time) and will run until August 9.

TI5 currently has an overwhelming $17.7 million (P807 million~) prize pool as of writing.
