Team Secret Eliminated, Two More Teams Says Goodbye to Championship
Pre-tournament fan favorite European team Team Secret (TS) got eliminated by Russian squad Virtus Pro, 2-1 in a 300,000-dollar differential match in the lower bracket of The International 5 (TI5).
Two Asian teams were also eliminated from the tournament: Korean team, MVP.Phoenix (7th-8th) and China-based EHome (6th).
Team Secret and MVP.Phoenix goes home with $818,000 (P36 million) for finishing 7th-8th place. EHome gets $1.1 million (P50 million) after placing 6th.
Only five teams remain in conquering the Aegis and winning at least $6 million (P270 million) grand prize. Chinese team CDEC and the North American representative Evil Geniuses (EG) will fight for the first spot in the Grand Finals.
Virtus Pro, Vici Gaming (VG) and LGD will battle it out in the lower bracket where the winner will have to face the loser of CDEC vs. EG match for the remaining spot in the Grand Finals.
