GAMEX.Wargods Disqualified From PGS
After a full investigation by the Pro Gaming Series (PGS) Committee on the recent conduct of GAMEX.Wargods, they have announced today that the team has been disqualified in competing further for the remainder of the 2015 Summer Split.
After much deliberation and in consideration that it was the team management, not the individual players, who have committed the violation, the penalty entails a forfeiture of the team’s remaining PGS 2015 Summer Split matches, a fine of PHP 30,000 and removal of the team’s slot in the PGS 2016 Spring Split. The team will not be required to disband and could participate in subsequent Challenger Circuit tournaments to requalify for a slot in the PGS 2016 Summer Split. Team members may also choose to remain in team Wargods or join another team to continue to compete.
-PGS Official Announcement
This decision was made after the members of the team roster participated and won 1st runner up in the Heroes of the Storm Philippine Grand Finals earlier this August.
Under PGS ruling, teams that are currently playing in a League competition such as the PGS are not allowed to participate in any non-League tournament, although streaming and playing other games casually is still allowed.
This decision will directly impact GAMEX.Wargods’ standing in the current and next split, as well as their removal from the bracket matches taking place at Rampage this August 22nd.
GAMEX Wargods were the 2014 PGS Summer Split champions, and showed a spirited performance in the recently concluded GPL, only being one game away from beating the current favorite (and last Spring champions) Saigon Fantastic 5. However, with the Philippine bets locked out of Worlds this year, it’s regrettable that the Philippines LoL scene will be without one of its premier teams for the better part of 2016. Keep a close watch on the PGS in the coming year to see what becomes of the power vacuum created by Wargods’ forfeiture.
