Razer NeXT CrossFire Tournament Wave 5: New Expectations
CrossFire enthusiasts from all over the country saw during the previous wave of the Razer NeXT CrossFire Tournament that the South can actually go tit-for-tat against what is arguably the best CrossFire team in the Philippines. WattzKing made sure that Pacific.Macta never relaxed at any point in their game, with the match going the full distance, 2-1 (9-10 for Port, 10-7 for Mexico and 10-7 for Sub Base.)
In the end, Pacific.Macta prevailed and made history by being the first team to take four Razer NexT tournament titles in a row.
However, one thing is clear: Form this point on, they need to watch out for the rest of the opposition as any team can potentially break their streak!
Once again, here is the map pool for the remaining rounds of the tournament:
Sub Base
Ankara
Black Widow
Port
Mexico
Let us have a look at the factors that will determine the final stages of this wave!
Entry Fragging: The Key to Winning
Good entry fragging is the key to success at the top levels of CrossFire. Be it through sniper pick-offs or through quick positioning plays, each attacker is expected to perform for their respective teams.
After all, as shown in the picture below, a correctly executed strike can change the tide of the game and completely shift the momentum of the match.
When the attacker gets kills early in the round, the pressure on the team becomes lesser due to the fact that they only have to face three or four opponents instead of a well-entrenched team. This mkes for easier execution of strategies and better site-taking tactics, thus ensuring a strong advantage.
What awaits us in the semi-finals?
Based on the results of the draw, Pacific.Macta will face off against Decapitatorz in the semi-finals, with WattzKing and Pacific.Wara duking it out in the other matchup. Each one of these teams can take off rounds and maps off each other; thus, it should not come as a surprise if both matches go the full distance. In addition, given WattzKing’s performance in the previous leg of the tournament, there is a very good chance that a team from the Southern Conference can make it into the finals of this tournament.
Here is the prize pool for this leg of the tournament:
1st place: P10,000
2nd place: P5,000
3rd/4th place: P3,500
3rd/4th place: P3,500
Will the South be able to reach the finals for the second time? Or will Manila’s attackers stop their rise to the top?
Find out as the action heats up once again this 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 16!
