5 Reasons Why Esports Festival Mindanao Is Going to Rock
For us geeks, events like E3 or any of the many Comic Cons are like our Mecca.
The Quest for the Holy Grail is an apt analogy when geeks and enthusiasts experience large-scale gatherings like those events firsthand. For many, the journey from being a simple fan to a bonafide afficionado comes full circle after partaking in these nerd gatherings turned conventions.
But flying halfway across the world to the United States of America for such an event is not an easy task for most Filipinos. Acquiring a Visa alone is a giant hassle and airline fares can be exorbitant.
Thank goodness that the Esports Festival is coming to Mindanao this July 16-19 then.
ESF Mindanao is going to be a slice of geek heaven set closer to home. The event will try to pack the same level of awesome as E3 and Comic Con in its decidedly smaller package. Here are five reasons why making the trip down south to General Santos City might just be worth it.
The Cosplay!
Any event worth its salt should feature an abundance of cosplayers. Those vivacious babes and hunky gentlemen masquerading as your favorite virtual, comic book or anime characters will be roaming the halls. There is also an actual cosplay competition with prizes to be reaped so I’m sure the quality will be there, as well as the quantity. Hopefully, none like this however.
I take that back. I HOPE that guy makes an appearance. Pudge cosplay game too strong.
A Drone Exhibit!
This country is finally catching up to the times. We are actually having a drone freaking exhibit on our soils. This should showcase a multitude of different types of drones. They will also have a presentation using the drones on stage as well as safety tips in usage.
That should be interesting huh? By attending ESF Mindanao, you can tell your grandchildren that you witnessed first-hand the first drones that took flight before SKYNET took over.
A Toy Exhibit!
Toys aren’t really just for kids. We all know that. Don’t we all want to stay young at heart? Age is only a number after all.
Toys in exhibits are usually quite rare and come in mint condition. They might even cost a fortune!
But before you start selling your house to get your hands on one of them, why not just ogle them for absolutely free.
A Remote Control Car Drifting Competition!
Everyone has the need for speed. And to keep everyone safe from harm they decided to have a drifting competition of the miniature variant. Unleash your inner fast and the furious by taking part in the competition! Or if you don’t have the balls for it you can still watch the action up close and personal.
A Proper Dota 2 LAN Tournament!
Now it might not be as grand as The International, but any competitive Dota 2 live event is still a joy to watch.
You can be part of the crowd that shapes the emotion of the match. The stakes aren’t bad either with both the GenSan Dota League (GDL) Championship and the Mindanao IeSF Qualifiers taking place at ESF Mindanao. The goal: the chance to play for a slot at the Esports Festival in Cebu later this year at the national finals!
Would you look at that. That sounds like a pretty rocking festival to us.
