Catch The Manila Major Finals Live Philippine Coverage on TV
With the Manila Majors taking place at the Mall of Asia Arena on June 7 to June 12, the Philippine eSports Organization (PeSO) is proud to announce that the finals of the largest eSports event in Philippine history will be televised LIVE on TV5.
It’s no secret that the Philippines is one of the biggest fans of Valve’s multi-million dollar, global, eSports title, Dota 2.
The Valve Dota 2 Majors are a series of seasonal tournaments that pit the 16 best teams from across the world in $3 million dollar prize-purse tournaments on the road to the Wimbledon of Dota 2: The International.
Last year’s The International reached a staggering prize pool of over $18 million. American team Evil Geniuses won the event and a cool $6 million for their first place finish. EG is competing at the Manila Major.
For this tournament, the Filipino flag will be represented by Mineski, a local, homegrown eSports organization that has managed to compete with the best in the world. On June 7, their countrymen can witness the Filipino dream come to life as they battle in the largest Dota 2 event to hit Philippine shores.
“With the Manila Majors, we hope to fulfill that commitment by bringing the experience to every eSports fan in the country. TV5, PGL and Valve have been generous to share in that vision,” said Irymarc Gutierrez, PeSO’s executive director.
The main event for the Manila Major will take place from June 7-12, with live online streams on Twitch.tv. The live telecast of the main event will begin on June 12. The broadcast on Aksyon TV starts 3 PM to 8:30 PM with the main TV5 channel’s coverage slot being 5 – 7 PM, all in Philippine Standard Time. Lastly, Cignal will also be making use of a pop-up channel, 198, during the same time as Aksyon’s coverage.
