Philippine Fighting Game Contingent Score Victories at Southeast Asia Major
At the GameStart Asia convention last weekend in Singapore, Filipino players managed to fight their way through a gauntlet of internationally-dominant talent across multiple fighting game titles, scoring a victory in BlazBlue: Central Fiction, as well as respectable finishes in other games.
Imperium Pro Team’s Alden “IPT Alden” Jacob came in first place in BlazBlue: Central Fiction, despite the game’s relatively new release
Meanwhile, PlayBook Elite’s Donal “PBE Don” Gimperoso and Andrew “IPT.Dru” Martinez both made the Top 32 of the Street Fighter V tournament. The tournament, sponsored and co-presented by Sony Interactive Entertainment, featured some of the best SFV players in the world that included EVO 2016 champion Lee “Infiltration” Seon Woo and rival Hajime “Tokido” Taniguchi.
In the end, Tokido took down the Southeast Asian Major against fellow Japanese player Yusuke “Momochi” Momochi. Tokido takes home the lion’s share of the $15,000 prize pool.
