Over the weekend, Las Vegas Began Taking Legal Bets for League of Legends
Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Oakland may be in the books, but over the weekend, an entirely new book was opened for eSports.
While betting isn’t a new thing for competitive video games, odds for this weekend’s IEM games were available from Las Vegas sports booker, The Downtown Grand.
The Downtown Grand in Vegas will be the first US sports book to take bets on esports starting this weekend for a League of Legends event.

According to ESPN sports business reporter, Darren Rovel, The Downtown Grand represents the first legally recognized US sports book to take bets on eSports events.
A further report by ESPN revealed the odds that went live for the event. Fans could expect to bet for the eventual champions of the event, Unicorns of Love, at 10-1 odds.
