Valve’s premier DoTA 2 Tournament will run from Monday, August 7 to Saturday, August 12. They also announced that tickets will be available for purchase starting 4th of April.
Numerous incidents of visa restrictions have caused problems for many teams in the past. Filipino teams TNC Pro Team and Execration almost missed TI6 last year because of visa problems. Now, with USA President Donald Trump’s controversial travel restrictions looking to cause even more hassle, Valve founder and CEO Gabe Newell planned to move The International to a different venue outside the United States this year. All previous The International events have been hosted in Seattle, Washington, barring The International 1 in Germany.
Although no venue has been officially revealed for this year’s International, Valve may have indirectly announced its return to Seattle in a blog post about a cosplay competition at the event.
