Secret Overpowers Mineski; Mineski Drops to LB
David defeated Goliath. But not this time.
World’s top Dota 2 team Team Secret (Secret) overpowers Gigabyte.Mineski (Mineski) after sweeping the quarterfinals series in the winners’ bracket 2-0 in the Frankfurt Majors, Nov. 17 evening (Philippine time).
With the win, Secret secured themselves a guaranteed top six finish as well as P9.5 million take-home prize money. While Mineski drops to the losers’ bracket and will face European team OG in a best-of-three elimination series tonight at 6 p.m. (Philippine time).
Mineski has a guaranteed 9th-12 placing with at least P2.1 million take-home prize.

In game one, Mineski exemplified a lukewarm aggression. They drew the first blood at the 1-minute mark, while Secret sniped their courier. The kill scoreboard was in a slow phase until the game hit the 15-minute mark. Secret tried to pick-off an opponent in the top lane with their two heroes, but to no avail. Mineski responded quickly, sending three heroes. Mineski killed two in the process, losing none – kill score sits at 5-3.
At the 17-minute mark, Secret boldly killed Roshan and took the aegis. Mineski spotted the Europeans. The Filipinos executed their area-of-effect skills smoothly, killing three including the aegis holder. However, despite the score lead by Mineski, it was Secret’s hero who was leading the gold chart with 8,853 net worth; followed only by inches by two Mineski heroes.
Big clash in the bottom lane at the 23-minute mark. Mineski take three in exchange of one. Kill score sits at 13-4. Filipinos take down the tier-two bottom lane tower.
At this point, Secret started to stall the game to create space for their core hero – Ember Spirit. The net charts stands still: Secret leads, Mineski trails.
At the 29-minute mark, Secret smokes up. Secret looking confident with their core hero, who newly bought a Black King Bar (an immunity item). Secret invade the opposition’s jungle. Secret find all Mineski’s hero. A messy clash. Both teams exchange skills to no perfect execution. The clash lasted for a minute; a three for three trade for both teams.
Secret takes a step back, continues to stall the game. Secret takes the second Roshan at the 35-minute mark; no Mineski contention. At the 39-minute mark, Mineski initiates the fire again, trying to catch one Secret hero in the bottom lane, but fails. Secret responds quickly, sending the whole team in the lane. Europeans easily take down three opposition with no casualty on their side. Kill score 16-11.
Secret claim the third Roshan (with cheese) at the 44-minute mark. At the same time, Mineski pick up two Scythe of Vyse.
A big clash looms. Secret catches one of the support heroes of Mineski, instantly kills it. Secret pursued Mineski, killing two more in the end. Another clash happened a minute after. Still in favor of the Europeans. Secret wiped out all the core heroes of the Filipino and started knocking at the opposition’s main infrastructures. Secret took down the middle lane set of barracks. The Filipinos tapped out at the 53-minute mark.

In game two, both teams played the game defensively. No kills were recorded until the 7-minute mark where Mineski drew the first blood of the game again.
The real engagement happened at the 17-minute mark where both teams smoked up, trying to catch each other off-guard. Mineski stayed in the middle lane, Secret went to the middle lane. They met at the middle river. Mineski reacted first after sighting the enemies; setting up their skills perfectly. No enough fire power. Secret took advantage, counter-attack, taking down three. Kill score at 5-7, Secret.
From that point on, Secret just found pick-offs after pick-offs, slowly stretching the gold and experience lead. Secret’s discipline proved to be the hardest challenge for the Filipinos as the Europeans played the game as a five-man unit. Secret claimed the aegis twice before hitting the 30-minute mark.
The Europeans engaged a clash in the middle lane, near the tier-three tower. They won the clash. Took down the first set of barracks. Secret rotated to bottom lane. Won another clash. Took down their second set of barracks. Kill score? 7-20. Filipinos tapped out at the 32-minute mark.
