The P141 Million Dream Tournament: The Next Dota 2 Majors Tournament Will Be Held in Manila
Fans of Dota 2 get ready: The Dota 2 Spring Majors will be held right smack dab in the heart of Manila.
Announced earlier today on the official Dota 2 blog, the next Dota 2 Majors tournament will be held in June in Manila.
The Philippine Majors will be the final large-scale, Valve-hosted Dota 2 tournament before the game’s biggest event, The International, which is slated for mid-August.
While no details have been fully released yet, all eyes will be on the Shanghai Majors for more than just the games: Valve has said that further details about the tournament in Manila will be released at the conclusion of the winter majors.
The P141 million event will be the largest eSports spectacle to be held in the Philippines. It will be the second event to be held in Philippine shores since the announcement of ESL Manila last December.
The Dota 2 Majors tournaments are a series of high-profile Dota 2 events that pit the world’s best teams in a P141 million cash prize tournament. There are only four major Valve events in the world. The International 6 season began with the Fall Majors in Germany, while the Winter Majors will be held in China. The Shanghai Majors will take place on February 25, followed by the Main Event at Mercedes-Benz Arena from March 2 through 6, 2016.
That leaves just two more cities: Manila for the Spring and Seattle, USA for The International 6 this August.
