EHOME Wins MDL Winter 2015 in Style, Sweeps EG 3-0
In another clash between the East and the West, EHOME comes out on top after beating Evil Geniuses (EG), 3-0, during the grand finals of the Mars Dota 2 League (MDL) Winter 2015 held in China.
It took three games for the Chinese side in order to win against the TI5 champions. In the first game, EHOME utilized a lockdown lineup with an Ursa as their frontliner, while EG used meta picks such as Invoker, Witch Doctor and Nature’s Prophet in order to make a case. After an action-packed match, the game ended in favor of the home team at 33 minutes, with Chen “Cty” Tianyu having a record of 11-0-5 on the angry bear.
Second game saw an extremely close match with the Americans taking a commanding early lead, even taking objectives in their favor. However, when Ren “ELeVeN” Yangwei on the Lone Druid and Cty on the Weaver came online with their core items, the Chinese team mounted a comeback in order to make it 2-0, despite the best efforts of EG to stop the Chinese wave.
The third and final game saw Saahil “UNiVeRsE” Arora getting his signature Faceless Void, looking forward to extend the series. The map went back-and-forth until the beginning of the midgame, when Hu “Kaka” Liangzhi had an amazing game on the Earth Spirit, setting up advantageous clashes for his team, while ELeVeN on the Enchantress dished out damage from the rear and allowed the Chinese side to take fights in their own terms. Still, the match dragged on thanks to UNiVeRsE’s top-notch performance on the Void, getting at least two enemy heroes inside the Chronosphere and win fights for his team.
In the end, a chaotic fight near the Roshan pit secured the map and the tournament for EHOME, taking the championship on home soil and winning $124,729 (P5.95 million) in cash. Meanwhile, EG take $55,435 (P2.64 million) for their valiant efforts.
Philippines’ very own Mineski placed last in the tournament after losing all eight of their maps in the round robin bracket, which included teams such as eventual champions EHOME and Chinese powerhouse LGD, among others.
