Slow Internet Troubles Delays ASEAN Tournament AGES 2016
After Telekom Malaysia (TM), Malaysia’s largest internet service provider, announced that a recent fault has damage the Asia Submarine Cable Express, organizers of AGES 2016 have announced that the event will be delayed while TM restores the broken undersea cables.
According to Telekom Malaysia, the damage cables have substantially slowed internet speed in Malaysia. This is bad news for players and teams trying to qualify for AGES 2016’s main events as the majority of qualifiers rely on an online stage of qualifying rounds.
In an announcement made on the AGES 2016 site, the AGES 2016 organizers have extended online qualifying stage to April 16 and 17, 2016. A new date for the main event has yet to be announced.
Offering a total prize pool of RM 1,000,000 (~P11 million), AGES 2016 will bring together top teams from neighboring ASEAN countries to battle for eSports glory. The top 3 eSports titles that will be featured at AGES2016 are Dota 2, FIFA16 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO). The main event will be held at Dewan Agong Tunku Canselor, UiTM Shah Alam, Malaysia. Visit www.ages.my for further details and inquiries.
