Earlier today we had a fight for NA supremacy where Evil Geniuses came out on top against complexity Gaming. Now we go over to a South East Asian Dota 2 romp with Malaysian-based squad Fnatic taking on Korean side MVP.Phoenix for a spot in the Top 4

Game 1 featured MVP.Phoenix picking up an Invoker for Pyo “MP” No-a while Fnatic picked up a a Lifestealer for Chai Yee “Mushi” Fung. MVP.Phoenix take the early game lead on tower advantage and overall networth. When MVP.Phoenix control the early game they are very, very hard to stop. Fnatic aren’t going to fold easily as slowly but surely they edge their way back into the game with timely Ravages from Chong Xin “Ohaiyo” Khoo’s Tidehunter and Yeik “MidOne” Zheng Nai’s Outworld Devourer Sanity’s Eclipse. Fnatic even take the first T4 tower at the Korean’s mid lane. Fnatic got overeager however as they were punished by MVP.Phoenix’s perfect execution lead by a flawless Lee “Forev” Sang-don Faceless Void Chronosphere. MVP.Phoenix takes two lanes of barracks in quick succession and Fnatic are close to breaking point. The Koreans take Game 1 after Fnatic call the 35 minute GG.

In Game 2, Fnatic once again pick up Chen for Djardel “DJ” Mampusti even if it didn’t work out for them the last game around. Fnatic also pick up a Nature’s Prophet as well as a Broodmother, so there is definitely a telltale to what kind of game they want to play. MVP.Phoenix do get their hands on the Earth Spirit for Kim “DuBu” Doo-young as well as a Mid Sven for MP. DJ makes good on the Chen draft for picking up the First Blood on MP using a Satyr Tormentor. Fnatic are taking control of the early game. The Koreans get back on even footing after a clash going their way as well as taking control of the game’s first Roshan ahead of Mushi’s Ursa. The problem with Fnatic’s draft is they need to be able to take barracks earlier than later as their line up does not scale as well in the late game compared to MVP.Phoenix. Sven and QO’s Spectre will eventually just feast on Fnatic’s many summons. Fnatic and they keep up the map control with Broodmother and Prophet all over the map getting pick offs here and there. When it was time for Fnatic to push high ground MVP.Phoenix was ready for them and proved staunch in their defense and reap the huge gold swings. The proceeding clashes went back and fourth as neither team wanted to lose this game. QO’s Sven is getting crazy powerful and Fnatic has to find a way to deal with the Rogue Knight. Fnatic just don’t have an answer as they concede Game 2 at 38 minutes.

MVP.Phoenix are back on track and march on to the Top 4 in Shanghai while Fnatic are heading home.
