Just months after the announcement of the million-dollar CS:GO Majors as well as the $1.2 million ELEAGUE by Turner and IMG, another six-digit league is entering the global Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) scene this year.

With $3.5 million in cash prizes and financial support spread out throughout two seasons, the eSports Championship Series (ESC) will feature ten teams from North America and Europe, with each region having their separate league.

In addition, ESC will be the first-ever CS:GO league to offer teams co-ownership rights as well as a share of the tournament revenues, similar to what is offered in many traditional sports leagues.

Here is a statement by Michele Atisani, co-founder of FACEIT, on this matter:

“Players and teams are the heart of the eSports community and deserve the opportunity to reap the rewards of their hard work and dedication to grow eSports into a mainstream phenomenon.”

He continues:

“We make the community our first priority and as such, we’re excited to support the first esports league that positions teams as co-owners.”

Furthermore, ESC has plans to create a development league in order to “feed new talented teams and players into the ECS league.”
