Perfect World Releases Apology Letter for Shanghai Majors Fiasco

A month after the Shanghai Dota 2 Majors, Perfect World, Dota 2’s publisher in China, has finally released a formal written apology regarding their handling of the tournament.

In a post on the official Chinese Dota 2 website, Yunfan Zhang, the president of Perfect World, stated the following:

Dear DOTA2 Players and Fans,

We deeply regret that a series of mistakes caused a multitude of problems at the Shanghai Major. As the organizer of the event, we must take full responsibility. We sincerely apologize for the disappointment and pain that you experienced.

We have started a full scope investigation and have taken corrective actions, starting with making changes to internal Perfect World personnel. We would ask for forgiveness from all of the DOTA2 fans and players, and hope to rebuild the trust that we have damaged.

The China-based publisher has clearly stated in their apology that they will take all necessary procedures in order to repair the damage that the fiasco caused to the company.

Here is the full text of the apology letter:

The Shanghai Major was the second major Dota 2 event co-produced by Perfect World, after conducting the Dota 2 Asia Championships (DAC) back in February 2015.

Yunfan Zhang has been president of Perfect World since the beginning of 2015, having previously worked for major Chinese tech companies such as Zhizhu Network Technology Co., Ltd, Duowan.com and NetEase, Inc., among others.
