eSports in Mindanao? Catch the ROG Net Shop Champions League!
The eSports sector in Mindanao is surely going strong this year as numerous huge events pop up in the region this year.
After the announcement of the “values-oriented” Gensan eSports Youth Summit by the General Santos city government, another big-ticket eSports event is coming to the region.

Called the “ROG Net Shop Champions League”, it is a three-month tournament that will culminate at the Mindanao Games Expo in SM City Davao on July 25-26 and SM City Gensan on August 26-28 later this year.
Spearheaded by Elit Events, a veteran organizing entity in the region, the ROG Net Shop Champions League will feature Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), with each game featuring a prize pool of P60,000.
The league aims to promote “fair play” as well as “top-notch gaming” while at the same time showcasing the diversity of the gaming community in Mindanao.
Finalists will be selected via a monthly qualification process, with the region’s best teams fighting it out against each other at the LAN finals in July. There will be a total of eight teams per title in the LAN event.
A Manila-based team is also set to participate in the tournament finals later this year, according to Alvin Favila, one of the main organizers for the event.
