The Manila Major: Newbee Clutches it Out Against Digital Chaos

In a heated 2-1 series, Newbee defeated Digital Chaos (Digital Chaos) in the Upper Bracket Quarter Finals to advance in the Manila Major.

If one could describe the series in a nutshell, it would be “back and forth stomping”.

Game 1 was clearly in Newbee’s favor; their choice of heroes rolled through the multi-national team with a score of 20-6. Despite DC’s push-heavy mid in the form of Aliwi “w33” Omar’s Death Prophet, they were unable to push against the Chinese team and lost at the 32 minute mark.

In a shift of events, DC took game 2 with a score of 27-12. Now on his signature Invoker, w33 and DC had almost every team fight go in their favor with assistance from the team’s support David “Moo” Hull’s Batrider. At the 33 minute mark, they took down a lane of barracks and Newbee had to concede to be being unable to defend.

Not affected by the last game’s results, the third game ended with a 27-6 Newbee win. Invoker now being banned out, w33 turned to Dragon Knight as the second core to Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok’s Gyrocopter; both lost their laning stage, which led to poor mid-game team fights. Damien “kpii” Chok’s Faceless Void plays were a key component of Newbee’s victory at the 32 minute mark, a near mirror of the first game in terms of time and kill-score.

Newbee have secured themselves a top 6 finish and now move on to the Semi Finals of the Upper Bracket where they will face the winners of Fnatic vs LGD Gaming. Digital Chaos on the other hand, will face off against Vici Gaming Reborn in the Lower Bracket where the loser gets 9-12th place.
