The event will also include the Capcom Pro Tour South East Major 2016, Guilty Gear Xrd Relevator tournament and King of Fighters XIV tournament.

In a press release Mr. Hidetoshi Takigawa, Southeast Asia Regional Head of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said:

“There are many tournaments for professional gamers but very little opportunities for amateur gamers who want to hone their skills and test their mettle against other gamers. We hope our participation can help build a community of gamers and nurture the next-generation of gamers in the region to engage in fun and compelling e-sports and gaming competition.”

The PS4 Street Fighter V Asia Amateur Tournament will see sixteen players — three players representing Singapore, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China, and one wild card qualifier who can qualify at GameStart Asia itself, battle it out for a total prize pool of USD 6,000 in a double elimination bracket.

The Philippine’s own fighting games professional team, PlayBook Elite, will be flying in to Singapore to compete in the Southeast Asia Majors.
