For the first time ever, the Philippines will be the venue for the Garena Premier League tournament. The tournament runs from April 12 to April 16 and will feature six teams from six countries all over Southeast Asia.  The GPL Spring 2017 is so far the biggest League of Legends event to be held in the Philippines.

Seasoned veteran team Mineski will be the Philippines’ representative. Mineski secured their GPL slot after a historic series against Imperium Pro Team earlier in March. For Singapore it will be newcomers Team Flash, who formed their organization at the beginning of the year. Another long-time team, Kuala Lumpur Hunters, will be representing Malaysia. After a surprising 3-1 victory against decorated team Bangkok Titans, Ascension gaming will be representing Thailand. GIGABYTE Marines will be representing Vietnam after a dominating 12-0 performance in the VCSA Spring Split, and a 3-0 win against Young Generation in the finals. Rounding out the league is Indonesia’s Fortius Gaming, formerly known as the Jakarta Juggernauts.

The final two teams will battle it out at the Samsung Hall in SM Aura Premier, Taguig City.

The GPL Spring 2017 winners will represent SEA in the upcoming Mid-Season Invitational, where they will compete against the best teams in the world and show that SEA has a fighting chance against the top teams. MSI 2017 will take place on April 28 to May 21, in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
