FEATURED STORIES

Resisting limits

Serving as the ultimate test for the most dedicated trail runners, the Mountain Run at this year’s race will once again simulate the challenging ascents of Skyrunning races – an arena dominated by Salomon. The race starts at 8:00am and 8:30am for its 32km and the 24km categories, respectively, the Mountain Run will witness the country’s top trail runners go head to head in this iconic race.

Positioned as the most challenging category of the race, and created especially for trail runners who want to take their skills to the next level, the 24km and 32km Mountain Run will feature technical ascents and varying terrain. From asphalt, sand, and rocks to river crossing and steep technical ascents, the route for this category is expected to yield an adrenaline-filled adventure for the racers.

The Mountain Run participants will receive a Race Kit which will include a race bib, a timing chip, a Salomon X-Trail technical jersey, a Salomon Race Cap, and Post-Race meal and products from
sponsors. Only those who finish within the cut-off time of 5 hours for the 24km, and 7 hours for the 32km, will receive a Finisher’s medal for this category. Given the demanding nature of these distances, participants of the 32km and 24KM Mountain Run must adhere to the prescribed mandatory gear which includes, a whistle, a hydration pack/belt, with at least 500mL of water. Those with incomplete mandatory gear will not be allowed to participate in the race.

Emergency numbers will also be announced on the race day, for those who will bring their cellphones. This is, however not mandatory.

A new path

Designed to accommodate road runners with zero to basic experience in trail running, the Fun Trail race has proven to be an extremely worthwhile experience. Through this category, Salomon aspires to encourage road runners to get out of their comfort zones and head straight into the world of trail running. Meant for runners who wish to experience a different kind of rush, the 6km Fun Trail category is a great introduction to trail running. Meanwhile, the 12km Fun Trail category targets runners with basic trail running experience and are seeking to kick their abilities in technical terrain up a notch.

Fun trail runners will receive a Race Kit which will contain a race bib, a timing chip, a Salomon X-Trail technical jersey, and a Post-Race meal and products from sponsors. The estimated gun start for the Fun Trail race is at 1:30pm.

Throughout the event, there will be specific areas and control points located in varying locations within the course to ensure that the participants finish the race within the official time. Moreover, the Salomon XTrail Run will be a Green Race. A pioneer advocacy championed by the Salomon X-Trail Run since its first series back in 2010, Salomon’s Green Race Movement will not permit the use of disposables during the event. Participants are then required to bring their own water bottles.

Ongoing until July 15, interested runners may register in-store at Salomon SM Aura, Salomon SM Megamall, Salomon Glorietta 3, Salomon SM North Edsa Annex or online at
www.salomonxtrailpilipinas.com.ph. The claiming of the Race Kits will be on July 14-15 for those who registered before July 10, while those who registered on July 10 onwards may claim their kits on July 18 in Salomon stores located at SM Aura, Glorietta 3, SM North Annex, SM Megamall, or it will be delivered to their provided shipping address.
