September 5, 2019 Justin Banusing

Classic fighting game fans rejoice: Terry Bogard of Fatal Fury fame is joining the ever-expanding Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster this November, Nintendo announced today via a Nintendo Direct.

Terry is one of SNK’s most popular characters — appearing first in 1991’s Fatal Fury and going on to become a regular in the King of Fighters series. He headlines the fourth Challenger Pack for Smash Ultimate and is the fifth additional character overall, following Piranha Plant from Super Mario Bros., Joker from Persona 5, Hero from Dragon Quest and Banjo from Banjo-Kazooie.

Not much information is available for Terry in Smash Ultimate is available online, other than his release window and the inclusion of music tracks and a stage from his home game. Nintendo of Europe’s Twitter account hosts the only public footage for the character, who appears to have several of his classic moves like the Power Wave and Burn Knuckle.

With Terry’s reveal also came with the announcement that additional characters beyond the previously-announced five Challenger Packs in the Fighter Pass are planned for Smash Ultimate. These fighters will likely be released over the course of 2020.
