Los Angeles Major to be Played Online with Regional Leagues
Following the postponement of the Los Angeles Major and ESL One Birmingham due to the Coronavirus pandemic a few weeks back, tournament organizers ESL have announced that the two tournaments will be held online. Given the latency issues as a result of geographic complications, the events will follow a regional league format similar to the recently concluded WeSave! Charity Play.
Slated to be the third major of the DPC season, ESL One Los Angeles 2020 will divide 35 teams across five regional leagues. China, Southeast Asia, North America, and South America will have their own leagues whereas Europe and CIS teams will be combined in one.
The 35 participating teams will be comprised of the teams that originally qualified for the Los Angeles Major and select teams from the StarLadder ImbaTV Kyiv Minor 2020 and the ESL World Ranking.
The tournament is set to run from March 28 to April 19 and will have a total prize pool of $375,000 USD up for grabs.
