TFT Releases Changes Due For Galaxies Mid-Set Update
Teamfight Tactics has seen a resurgence in play in its third set, Galaxies, and now look to freshen things up with a mid-set update with a slew of brand-new classes, origins, champions, and balance changes.
Out with the old, in with the new
In order to balance the meta for the upcoming changes, Voids (Kha’Zix, Cho’Gath, and Vel’Koz) and Valkyries (Kai’Sa, Kayle, and Miss Fortune) are going to be removed from the game. Champions with little to no room for counterplay such as Sona, Kassadin, and Lux are also to be removed to make room for incoming champions.
There will be a total of 14 new champions with new traits such as Astros and Battlecast to accompany them. To further supplement the existing origins, the following champions will be added:
- Vayne: Tier 3, Cybernetic Sniper
- Zed: Tier 2, Rebel Infiltrator
- Riven: Tier 4, Chrono Blademaster
Battlecasts will have breakpoints at 2/4/6 and trigger bonus effects based on their current health.
- Illaoi: Tier 1 Brawler
- Nocturne: Tier 2 Infiltrator
- Kog’Maw: Tier 2 Blaster
- Cassiopeia: Tier 3 Mystic
- Viktor: Tier 4 Sorcerer
- Urgot: Tier 5 Protector
Astro has a breakpoint at 3 and simply reduces their mana costs by 30 when activated.
- Nautilus: Tier 2 Vanguard
- Bard: Tier 3 Mystic
- Gnar: Tier 4 Brawler
- Teemo: Tier 4 Sniper
Lastly, Janna will be returning to the galaxy as a Tier 5 Star Guardian and Paragon whose trait shifts her team’s basic attacks to magic damage.
Restoring order in the galaxy
With all the updates coming, existing traits, champions, items, and galaxies will likewise be seeing changes.
Chrono will be getting buffs and an 8-piece bonus, meanwhile Dark Star will be having breakpoints at 2/4/6/7 and buffs Dark Star champions off any ally’s death. Mech Pilots are getting a shift in power towards their mech form, but the pilots come out damaged when it dies. Sniper will have breakpoints at 2/4 with the newly-introduced snipers, while Vanguard gets breakpoints at 2/4/6.
Notable changes to champions include Syndra, whose extra orbs move on to the next target when she kills the intended target. Aurelion Sol and Ekko will be getting buffs as they were undervalued compared to Gangplank and Miss Fortune earlier in the set.
Items such as Infinity Edge and Seraph’s Embrace are seeing nerfs, while Rapidfire regains its old passive which makes its owner’s attacks unable to miss.
GALAXIES: system updates
Among the galaxies, the Lilac Nebula is going to be removed first as Riot starts adding and removing one galaxy each patch starting 10.13.
Lastly, game-changing mechanics will be introduced in the mid-set update. Champions will now sell back for their value which means players won’t lose gold for using a champion in the early game then selling it later on. The Tier 3 champ pool will be expanded to 18 copies of each, which will allow 2 players to get 3-star copies of a Tier 3 unit. As an added bonus, Neeko’s Help will now always work even if all the units in the pool have been taken.
Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies’ mid-set update has a bunch of changes and updates that will once again be shaking up the meta. According to the dev team, the listed changes are still subject to change and may include even more changes come 10.13.
