AkoSiDogie Comments Controversial Joke About Sexual Assault
In a now-deleted post, Dogie has recently made comments about him being “raped” and “enjoying” it in a joking fashion.
In a post criticizing the anonymous confessions about sexual harassment in Esports Freedom Wall, Dogie said “ako nga nirape mo ako nun pero gusto ko <3”. The post Dogie commented under was questioning anonymous testimonies regarding sexual assault without concrete evidence being presented.
Dogie has since deleted his comment under the post.
Due to his comments, Dogie has gotten flak from several members of the industry. Shoutcaster and Analyst Neil “Midnight” De Guzman called out Dogie’s controversial remarks for being insensitive towards victims of sexual harassment.
[pullquote]”Everyone is held accountable for their comments. Nobody is excused from that. Especially influencers, not just streamers. Not just with sensitive issues such as sexual harassment but with their overall character and ideology.”[/pullquote]
Dogie’s comments are part of a recent wave of discussion following a rise in reports of sexual misconduct in the Philippine esports industry.
“It’s natural for people to be careful when threading sensitive things, although some might find it funny and worthy enough of a joke”, said Midnight. However, the shoutcaster stressed that “even if we are faced with these concerns that have no backing and evidence whatsoever, we still need to stand for those that need to speak up.”
When we reached out to Rumble Royale, who manages AkoSiDogie, they responded with the following statement:
RUMBLE ROYALE is against all forms of abuse and sexual misconduct and will not stand for any action in support of these behaviors. Education and awareness regarding these issues is very important to us, and action is regularly taken to ensure that this is a priority. Rest assured that this will continue in earnest, especially during this time where education is key moving forward. Our management have advised AkosiDogie on his actions and his responsibility as a major influencer. Further action is currently being discussed as well.
