Team SoloMid has signed chess prodigy and 5-time U.S. champion Hikaru Nakamura to the team.
Hikaru is the youngest America to become a chess Grandmaster at 15 years old and has broken records in his time in the sport. Hikaru has won a Chess Olympiad gold medal and is currently the highest-rated blitz player in the world.
In the past year, Hikaru started streaming on Twitch and has gained over 500,000 followers on the platform. The chess grandmaster gained a following after collaborating with streamers such as xQc and xChocoBars.
Chess has been on the rise in Twitch for the past year and has garnered hundreds and thousands of views. Hikaru joining legacy esports organization Team SoloMid is a first within Chess.
