Machi Esports Dominate PSG to Become PCS Summer Split Champions
Machi Esports have finally taken down PSG Talon to become the champions of the PCS Summer Split 2020 and the region’s first seed at Worlds 2020.
After a close series in the semifinals, Machi Esports made their way back to the Grand Finals after demolishing J Team 3-0 in the lower bracket. In the Grand Finals, MCX looked to get revenge against PSG who have taken their number one too many times in the past.
However, the Grand Finals was unlike the two team’s past bouts that ended in scrappy silver scrapes. In the best-of-five series, MCX stepped up and took down PSG in a dominating 3-0.
In the first game, Machi sneakily took Baron Nashor which gave them the advantage they needed to close out the game. In Game 2, jungler Huang “Gemini” Chu-Hsuan got advantages for MCX on his Lee Sin being 5/0/0 by around 16 minutes. However, PSG were able to hold strong till the late game by taking Barons of their own. In the end, all it took was a three-man shockwave by MCX’s Chen “M1ssion” Hsiao-Hsien to close out the game.
In the last game of the series, Gemini once again got early leads through bot lane thanks to Gemini’s Graves. After picking off PSG one by one in the mid game, MCX secured the lead they needed to take hold of the game and the series.
In Spring playoffs, MCX beat PSG in the semifinals only to lose to them in the Grand Finals 3-2. Machi finished 4th place in the regular season, in contrast to their first place finish in Spring.
MCX’s decisive victory in Summer means that they will be directly advancing to the Group Stage in Worlds 2020.
