Riot Games Announces Official Esports for VALORANT: First Strike
Riot Games has announced their first-ever official esports tournament for VALORANT called First Strike.
First Strike will be open to players sixteen and above who have reached Immortal 1 in the ranked ladder. The global tourney will be holding regional qualifiers across North America, Europe, CIS, Turkey, Asia, Oceania, Brazil, and the Middle East to determine who qualifies to the finals in December.
Regional qualifiers are set to begin in the second half of October with further details to be released later on. The finals is set from December 3 to December 6, 2020.
Riot’s move comes after the success of its Ignition Series tournaments which propelled the tactical shooter to the forefront of esports.
In alignment with this, Senior Director of Global Esports, Whalen “Magus” Rozelle, stressed how they are continuing their pursuit to ensuring competitive integrity and improving spectating in VALORANT.
