Worlds 2020: Damwon Repeat Summer Finals After DRX Sweep in Quarterfinals
Damwon Gaming fulfill expectations and sweep DRX 3-0 once again to qualify for the Worlds 2020 Semifinals.
In Game 1, DRX drafted a full-ranged composition and hoped to overtake Damwon Gaming in the laning phase. However, a misstep by Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu’s Caitlyn was all the leverage needed for DWG to swing the game in their favor. Damwon then proceeded to roll over DRX who couldn’t setup properly at objectives.
In the following games, DRX had good leads in the early game due to their proactive play. However, Damwon grouped effectively and denied DRX the opportunity to grow their leads into victories. Despite DRX’s impressive performance in groups, their Worlds 2020 run ends here as they fall to their own region’s champion in Damwon Gaming.
DWG’s sweep in the Quarterfinals is a repeat of their performance in the LCK 2020 Summer Finals when they 3-0’d DRX as well.
