Zeal Esports Wins KJC eSports Valorant Tournament: ONE
Rising up against 64 other Southeast Asian teams, Zeal Esports won the KJC eSports Valorant Tournament: ONE after facing Paper Rex in the grand finals yesterday, June 26, 2021.
The Cebuano roster consisting of Dominique “N1CO” Tul-id, Carl “senyorcarl” Carandang, Keith “FireSaiyajin” Madarang, James “2geMONSTAH” Goopio, Vince “Flash” Medado, and Craig Zachary “CraigyS” Salgado sealed the deal against the Singaporean powerhouse Paper Rex by beating them 3-1 in the best of five grand finals series.
They did this by securing the first two maps in the series, stumbling a little bit in the third map which was Icebox, and finally closing it out on Split.
In a private post-tournament interview with Esports Inquirer, current head coach Yuki “Zyki” Uruma said that they are hyped to have won the international tournament.
“We just had to stick into our daily routine and I told the boys that [whether it is] international or local [they] just [had to] believe in [themselves] and in the team and we will win the games for our strats in this meta are strong,” Zyki revealed when asked how they prepped for the tournament.
As they prepare for the upcoming VCT Stage 3 – Challengers PH: Week 1 Playoffs, Zeal Esports owner Elmer Salupan said that they would like to continue their current momentum and that sponsors would be much appreciated as they continue to expand the organization.
Together with Bren Esports, Zeal Esports is currently seeded for the VCT Stage 3 – Challengers PH: Week 1 Playoffs after they previously represented the Philippines as the former 6045Pirates Esports roster in the VCT Stage 2 – SEA Challengers Playoffs.
