Oasis Gaming Becomes VCT-PH Champions By Beating Sunsparks
Oasis Gaming became the VCT Stage 3: SEA – Philippines Challengers 3 champions after defeating Sunsparks 3-1 in the finals yesterday, August 8, 2021.
Despite multiple roster changes this year, the roster consisting of Kurt “Kurtesy” Cinco, Gabriel “Gadoerzz” Gutierrez, Mark “Ripper” Laguardia, Mark “Markyyy” Tuling, and Omar “Coco” Lopez, together with their coach Chelceed “Maark” Viernes finally managed to overcome statistics against them with magic.
Oasis was able to claim the first two maps, Haven and Icebox, before Sunsparks stole the third map, Bind, with a wallbang fiesta. Ultimately, Oasis put a stop to Sunsparks’ momentum by winning decisively on Split.

In a post-game interview, Kurtesy stated that they consider their win as simply a stepping stone to the Berlin Masters.
Meanwhile, Ripper told Esports Inquirer in a private interview that the 2-month old roster worked because of the addition of Coco, Kurtesy, and Markyyy.
“The team atmosphere has been amazing ever since Coco, Kurt, and Markyyy joined the team. Their positive mindset and attitude were the keys to making us stronger than ever. Feels great to finally win the playoffs after months of struggles. We focused on the small steps and trusted the process and it finally paid off,” Ripper revealed.

On the other hand, Oasis coach Maark stated that the team’s success was based on the foundation of failures.
“We’ve come a long way,” Maark stated in a Facebook post that detailed his path into becoming the team’s new coach.
The VCT-PH was full of upsets this time, with tournament favorites such as Zeal Esports and ALPHA Esports Pro falling at the hands of Oasis. However, Bren Esports is still the undisputed king of the hill in Valorant and they will be accompanied by Oasis Gaming and Galaxy Racer as they represent our country in the SEA Challengers.
