Noteworthy matchups looming for 3rd CODM Philippines Championship round of 64
The Call of Duty: Mobile 3rd Philippines Championship will officially kick off its round of 64 tomorrow, August 9 with some interesting matchups and seedings bourne from its brackets.
Several head-to-heads were shown to be oddly interesting. One case would be CKG Anarchy, defending Philippine CODM champions, facing 2nd Philippines’ CODM Championship top 4 finalists RTL Esports. Another one is the possible round of 32 clash between heavyweights Smart Omega (former NRX Jeremiah 29:11), 1st Philippines’ CODM Champions and reigning Southeast Asian kings of CODM against VVV Esports, 2nd Philippines’ CODM Championship runners-up.
This was received with mixed reactions from fans and players alike, with some questioning the brackets as well as the process of making them, while others saying there’s nothing else that could be done as brackets were probably randomized and one could get what they could get, and that nothing comes easy at this point.
The tournament will likely see two of the top-ranked teams booted out this early from the competition before it can even reach the group stages, costing fans of some quality group stage-worthy games.
The tournament, which serves as the ticket for Philippine CODM teams to qualify for Southeast Asian (Garena) Regional Qualifiers and ultimately to CODM’s world championship, will be cut down to 16 teams later this week for its group stages which will be live-streamed on Garena’s official Facebook page.
