While the faces are not exactly revealed, the image shows Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey (both portraying Joel and Ellie from the game respectively) standing side by side while looking at a crashed airplane in the distance. Avid fans of the game would also notice the accurate depiction of Joel and Ellie’s respective outfits and backpacks.
The image was released as part of The Last of Us Day 2021 celebration — a community celebration by Naughty Dog.
Meanwhile, Neil Druckmann also shared the image with a caption that shows his excitement for the show.
When I first saw them on set in full costume, I was like: "Hooooooly shit! It's Joel & Ellie! 😭!"
