BOOM Esports had to face Galaxy Racer (now team Nigma Galaxy) and Team SMG in the upper bracket of the playoffs only to face the latter again at the grand finals. The Indonesian org beat out Team SMG by going 3-2 in the best-of-5 grand finals.
They did this while currently sporting a relatively new lineup with Jinn Marrey “Palos” Lamatao, Erin Jasper “Yopaj” Ferrer, Saieful “Fbz” Ilham, Rolen Andrei Gabriel “skem” Ong, and former TNC Predator Timothy John “Tims” Randrup.
In a private inquiry with the team, they revealed that this win should’ve silenced their doubters.
“Our recent win in the [BTS Pro Series Season 8: Southeast Asia] has proven that this roster has the capability to win championships in a strong fashion,” the team’s representative revealed. “While it’s easy to say that the win in [the BTS Pro Series Season 8: Southeast Asia] can be considered a fluke, we’re confident that we now have the right tools to develop a world-class team capable of beating the best in the long-term, win championships, and to constantly work hard to bring BOOM Esports to the top of the leaderboards.”
The team’s representative also revealed that they were able to win thanks to what the players have brought to BOOM’s table.
“We’re extremely proud of the talents that this roster has brought. [Tims brought] in a strong dynamic of experience and creativity [thanks to him] having competed in some of the highest levels of Dota 2 [which provided the team] a strong foundation in his position as a support [while] making sure that players like Yopaj and Skem can provide a strong carry potential and for Fbz’s offlane to flourish. In addition, Palos’ contribution as a stand-in also can’t be understated, we’re grateful that he is able to fill in as a last-minute spot, his adaptability to gel with the team played a big contribution to our win.”
After winning the BTS Pro Series Season 8: Southeast Asia, BOOM Esports is set to receive USD $24,000, Team SMG USD $13,800, 3rd-placer Motivate.Trust Gaming USD $7,900, and 4th-placer Polaris Esports receiving USD $4,600.
