DLSU Achieves 3-Peat at University Alliance Cup Valorant
After an intense best-of-5 series, DLSU’s Viridis Arcus achieved a 3-peat in the third season of the University Alliance Cup Valorant after going 3-1 against FIT’s iTamaraws in the grand finals.
Viridis Arcus won game one in Ascent where Xavier “Xavi8K” Juan simply did what he was known for — create space, control the map, and get 30+ kills using Raze. However, the iTamaraws plowed their way in Haven to end the game 13-11 in their favor. Nevertheless, Viridis Arcus turned on their switches and dominated the third map, Bind, going 13-1 against the iTamaraws and finished the series at the fourth map, Icebox, with a 13-8 scoreline.
“During the Haven game, we threw a lot of rounds… and it just started going downhill from there. There was some tilt and we just made bawi on Bind… and we just continued that into Icebox,” Xavi8k explained their mentality during the series during a post-series interview.
Including Xavi8k, the 3-peat roster of Viridis Arcus is composed of Andrej “Ya0” Yao, Ron “Grosso” Rieta, Fernando Miguel “Guelson” V. Dy IV, Matthew “Acervus” Villaroman, William “W1lly” Reyes, and Arvin “Vintage” Vinluan.
“This is our season 1 roster, most of them [at least]. It’s really just the chemistry that we have together. That’s what makes us good, and of course the mechanical skills,” Xavi8k revealed as to why the team won.
Not surprising, the recent Bren recruit is the MVP as Xavi8k finished the series with a KDA average of 24.7 kills, 12.2 deaths, and 4.5 assists.
After finally claiming the impressive 3-peat, Xavi8k also revealed that they will participate next in the MSI Gaming Arena’s University Championship and will strive to do a 4-peat at the next UAC Valorant Season.
