CODM Garena Regional Qualifiers Day 1&2 recap: Smart Omega, Blacklist International have contrasting starts
Day 1 and 2 of the CODM Garena Regional Qualifier went underway and the two representing Philippine teams to the regional meet started the tournament fairly well for their standards in contrasting fashion.
Smart Omega started the first day of action with two series, first against longtime rival ALMGHTY with a 2-1 series loss then ending off the day with a dominating 3-0 win over Raptors.DNS of Taiwan.
The defending Garena Regional Qualifier champions were led by their captain JC “Jayzee” Rivera with a K/D/A ratio of 18/10/4 thus garnering the Soldier of the Game honors. The team finished the day on a 4-2 slate, enough for a joint first-place alongside Indonesian champions Rimo Sadewa and the aforementioned ALMGHTY team.

On the other hand, Blacklist International.Ultimate only had one series to play in the second day’s schedule against the runners-up of Thailand in WDC Freeslot, losing 2-1.
The newly crowned kings of the Philippines struggled at first, losing 150-89 in Hardpoint at Summit. They then battled back and put up a gallant stand in Search and Destroy at Takeoff, losing a hard-fought 6-4 matchup until the boys from Ultimate decided to pull their pants up winning in Domination at Standoff 150-110.
Blacklist finished on a 1-2 record, enough for Group B’s 6th place as of today.

Both teams aim to improve their records and gain their ground in the standings as only the top 4 teams of each group advance to the playoffs.
Smart Omega returns to action today first against Thailand champions Sharper Esport at 7:00 p.m and then Rimo Sadewa at 9:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Blacklist International.Ultimate will try to bounce back against SEM9 of Malaysia at 6:00 p.m then DG Esports of Indonesia at 8:00 p.m tomorrow October 10.
