Riot Games has revealed more details, including the release date, for Yoru’s much awaited rework.

While these are the directions that the development team is headed towards, Yoru is still a work in progress and these might be different from the actual release. Yoru’s rework is intended to be released during Episode 4 Act II, so we can expect him really soon.

Fakeout

Fakeout currently only mimics the sound of Yoru’s footsteps as a means of feeding wrong information to the enemies. In the rework, instead of being just feet, Fakeout now produces a Yoru clone. This clone still runs forward like the current Fakeout, but when it gets damaged, it explodes and debuffs enemies.

FEATURED STORIES

But wait, there’s more! When the Fakeout clone gets shot, it faces the direction of the person who fired the shot and flashes their position in a cone.

Enemies will see the Fakeout clone as if it was the real Yoru, meanwhile Yoru’s allies will be able to see the difference clearly:

See it in action below:

Gatecrash

Gatecrash is Yoru’s bread and butter ability. It only received minor tweaks in order to play more into Yoru’s misleading playstyle. As a reminder, Yoru players will now be able to issue a “Fake Teleport” which plays the sound queue of him teleporting without actually teleporting Yoru. Doing so would leave a small “puddle,” for game clarity purposes.

Dimensional Drift

Yoru’s Ultimate, Dimensional Drift, received a lot of changes.

  • Yoru is no longer revealed to enemies
  • Yoru is able to cast all utility while in Dimensional Drift
  • Enemies can hear Yoru’s footsteps
  • Nearsighted is removed
  • Unequip delay time is slightly increased
  • Cast delay added when casting Dimensional Drift, preventing the invulnerability frame on cast.

Dimensional Drift now offers more tools for Yoru to play into his stealthy playstyle. The changes allow him to cast his abilities without breaking invisibility, and while his footsteps can now be heard, he is now invisible at any distance. The reduced duration of the ultimate will have players think twice and plan out a route before using it. The unequip delay time prevents the “combo of blasting Shorty right after switching to visible.”

While these changes seem overwhelming and frustrating to play against, only time will tell if these changes were effective in making Yoru a viable character in professional, competitive, and casual play. Riot hopes that with these changes, it would help bring some of his fantasy of stealth infiltration to life.
