Team Secret continued their VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Philippines resurgence with an edgy 2-1 win over RRQ.

Jeremy “Jremy” Cabrera’s return to the starting lineup was obvious when Secret chose Bind for Map 1. Jayvee “DubsteP” Paguirigan’s eyebrow-raising Yoru pick wreaked havoc during both attack and defense (sometimes to his team’s detriment) in a match where RRQ struggled to find their footing. The new boys on the block showed glimpses of their potential but last season’s Masters Berlin representatives closed out the opening match 12-3.

Secret was also in control for most of Map 2 off the back of Jremy’s efforts on Fade but a Kelly “KellyS” Sedillo-led RRQ rallied on to force overtime. The first three overtime rounds ended in favor of the attacking side, an occurrence uncharacteristic of Split. RRQ’s defensive efforts were eventually rewarded with a successful defuse on the 28th round to book a trip to Ascent.

All hopes for an explosive ending to the series were quickly extinguished when the first half ended 9-3 in favor of Secret. A double operator lineup comprised of Riley “witz” Go’s Jett and DubsteP’s Chamber proved too much to handle for Rex Regum Qeon as they only managed to string up three consecutive round wins on each half with no comeback in sight.

With this win, Team Secret (3-0) move back up to the top of the standings ahead of Bren Esports (2-0) while RRQ (1-2) sit in 7th place ahead of their match against Action PH (2-1) tomorrow.
