RRQ lost Game 1 in a close 13-11 game on Ascent.
RRQ started off the map with the lead but Bleed forced the Philippine side to perform site-retake operations in the later stages of the half. Things didn’t get any better for RRQ after the switch as they repeatedly fell to Derrick “Deryeon” Yee’s Operator-wielding Jett. RRQ desperately tried to mount a comeback and force overtime but Bleed had other plans.
With their backs against the wall, the Filipino representatives took Game 2 on Split via an impressive comeback.
Contrary to the first game, RRQ lost the first five rounds. Thankfully, Jose Eduardo “Draxii” Jamir provided a much-needed ray of hope by pulling off a 6-man Ace in Round 11. This spurred the start of his side’s second-half rally to equalize the score by Round 18. Nathaniel “Nexi” Cabero also had a stellar performance on Cypher and anchored perfectly to prevent Bleed from taking hold of site. RRQ closed off the map 13-10 to take the series to a deciding match.
The intensity of the series carried over to the third game at Haven. Unfortunately, RRQ ultimately lost to Bleed in yet another close 13-11 game.
RRQ ran the same pairing of Fade (Francis Danison “Rabbet” Buñag) and Breach (Jose Eduardo “Draxii” Jamir) on this map as it worked wonders in their previous match against Team Big BAAM, However, it proved to give no sizeable advantage as Bleed’s signature overaggressiveness easily overpowered their composition. Despite that, RRQ managed to obtain an early game momentum as they took seven rounds in the first half. It looked to be RRQ’s game up until Round 18 as the next round marked the start of Bleed’s own comeback.
RRQ’s loss in this series meant that they will descend to the elimination match of Group B where they will face the victor between Team Big BAAM and Ghetto Artist.
