Omega Loses First Game
Just like old Filipino action movies, Smart Omega got beaten up first in Game 1 of their best-of-3 series against TODAK.
The battle of the first game started in the drafting phase. In order to counter TODAK’s draft, Omega chose to put Grant Duane “Kelra” Pillas on Irithel – an unconventional pick that rose in popularity in MSC 2022. The game was pretty much even in the early game but the damage from TODAK’s Xavier (Zikry Bin “Moon” Shamsuddin) and Beatrix (Muhammad “Ciku” Danial) was apparent as their skillshots instantly delete a huge chunk of Omega’s health.
The aforementioned players of TODAK proved to be the catalyst of Smart Omega’s defeat as they were unable to handle them. Renz Errol Salonga “Renzio” Cadua tried to delay the inevitable as his Esmeralda delayed the onslaught by TODAK at the 20-minute mark. In the end, TODAK’s barrage at Smart Omega’s base closed out the game in a decisive fashion.
The Comeback Kings Came Back in Game 2
With their backs against the wall, Smart Omega stayed true to their nickname as the Comeback Kings when they made yet another comeback win on Game 2.
The first six minutes of the game were slow and tame, with only two kills on the board for both teams from Patrick James “E2MAX” Caidic and Kelra. However, TODAK soon got the lead as the game progressed. In response, Smart Omega started to turn things around after the 10-minute mark. After that, the momentum shifts between the two teams went on for a couple more before Smart Omega finally capitalized on TODAK’s mishaps to end the game.
Kelra took the Game 2 MVP honors after he recorded a 5/2/8 KDA. Meanwhile, Dean Christian “Raizen” Sumagui also had an impressive performance on Fanny, he even outmaneuvered (and tanked) a turret shot with a sliver of health remaining at one point.
The Reigning MSC Champions Get Stomped in Game 3
With both teams tied one apiece, Smart Omega got surprisingly stomped on the third game.
The battle of the drafts continued in the final game of the series. Smart Omega’s picks looked primed and ready to decimate and punish TODAK. However, it was the Malaysian representatives’ uncharacteristic early-game composition that emerged victorious.
As soon as the game started, an all-out brawl ensued. Unlike the previous game, both teams went for each other, with TODAK as the one who came out on top. It was the Popol and Kupa’s (Ciku) turret-busting antics that caused Smart Omega’s downfall as it chipped away and demolished turrets one by one. The hastened pace of the game did not allow the current reigning champs of MSC any room to breathe and thus they succumbed at the hands of TODAK.
After the 1-2 loss, Smart Omega dropped down to the lower bracket of MSC 2022 where they face EVOS Singapore next on June 16, 2022.
